When tires are patched and repaired incorrectly, the results can be deadly. That's why our technicians always remove the damaged tire from the rim to see what caused it to go flat and determine whether the tire is repairable. Circumstances that render it beyond repair include a sidewall or shoulder tear or puncture, overlapping punctures, tread damage on directly adjacent areas, or punctures larger than 6mm (1/4-inch). In addition, tires with a tread depth of less than 2/232-inch in any area or where the tread wear indicator should be replaced, not repaired. But if the technician determines that your tire can benefit from a patch and repair service, he will remove the damaged material, fill the resulting void with rubber, and seal the interior liner with a repair unit. When a tire is repaired in this way, you can expect it to give you thousands of miles of reliable safe performance.

If they do, he will rebalance the tire on the wheel so that the more heavily weighted spot lines up better with the wheel. Balancing may also be called for as the tires get older since the small weights that are attached to them in order to even out the weight can fall off and need to be replaced. If you feel any vibrations in the steering wheel or under the seat, bring your car into our service department, so we can see if balancing is the problem.
Keeping up with regular tire service is important, but you need not worry about that if you follow the recommended Land Rover maintenance schedule since our technicians measure tread depth as well as tire pressure as part of the complimentary multi-point inspection that's part and parcel of every maintenance service.
